The Sentinel Watchkeeper system is a simple economic solution to a growing requirement from both boat builders and owners to monitor onboard systems without the inconvenience of mounting a multitude of different alarm panels and boxes.

No longer is it necessary to mount the bilge alarms in one box, the engine exhaust gas temperature alarm in another and the 'black' water tank alarm in yet another box.

The Sentinel will continually monitor 16 'user' alarm channels together with monitoring 2 battery banks for high and low voltage thresholds. As supplied, only the four battery alarm windows have been pre-printed, leaving the other sixteen windows to be 'user' configured from the supplied 80 'peel off' legends.

The Sentinel is supplied in two versions, the first is the 'stand alone' model which is a composite unit comprising the front display together with all associated electronics. The unit is designed for panel mounting, all alarm wiring begins and ends at this unit. The second model is designed where space behind the panel is at a premium such as when the Sentinel is mounted in the vessel's overhead. In this case the main electronics package is located as a remote unit and is connected to the front panel via a 5 meter multi-core cable. This multi core cable is fully colour coded and is designed to be cut to facilitate installation. All alarm wiring will begin and terminate at the remote electronics unit.

Alarm wiring and activation: A simple two wire system is used to connect each of the Sentinel's sixteen user channels to the alarm switch / senders. Activation of an alarm is achieved by simply shorting two wires together.

Activation of an alarm channel will light the corresponding alarm window, light the 'Master Caution' window and sound the audible warning. Pressing the 'Alarm Reset' switch will cancel both the 'Master Caution' plus the audible warning. In this way multiple warnings may be accepted until all twenty alarm windows are illuminated, (which we very much hope never happens). Removal of the fault will automatically reset the channel with the exception of channel eleven. Channel eleven has been configured as a fully 'Iatching' channel, once triggered it may only be cancelled by pressing the 'Alarm Reset' switch. This channel should be used for alarms such as 'intruder alert', 'smoke or fire alarms' . For more ambitious installations where engine(s) monitoring or perhaps the mimicking of other alarm indications are required an optional electronic 'Interface' unit is available.
